The Society was formed in 1986 and concentrates on serving the area of the Blue Mountains City Council from the rise from the Cumberland Plain to Mt Victoria and the off shoots of Mt Wilson and Mt Irvine to the north and the Megalong Valley in the south. We are a true family history society with interests back to our roots - in England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, France etc, how & where our ancestral families lived and worked and where they travelled. Unfortunately the exact date & reason for admission was not recorded in the register. An approximate time period was interpolated by using the ages of some of the "inmates." It must be stressed that travellers and others used the gaol's facilities as it offered the cheapest accommodation.

Camden Historical Society
Established in 1996. We have gathered a considerable amount of resources and information for the benefit of members, or anyone interested in researching their family history.
Since the early days of settlement in Australia, the Camden District was the first destination for hundreds of pioneering families starting a new life.
Many descendants of those first settlers were pioneers themselves, moving on to develop other areas of the Colony.
For many people seeking their ancestors, Camden is an area rich in their family history, and a great starting place to unlock the mystery of their past.
A visit or contact with the society is essential if you are searching for ancestors in the Camden area. Our large database of Camden families is the place to look.
