Burial Grounds of Tasmania
BGOT is a small group of volunteers who take cemetery and headstone photographs from the ageing and derelict graveyards in Tasmania.
The project is focused on producing a photographic history amidst the growing concern that our older cemeteries are badly neglected and are slowly fading away.
We are a not for profit group, and we request a small token payment of $5 for a headstone photo, plus a couple of photos of the cemetery in which they are interred. This helps cover the cost of travelling, website maintenance and camera equipment. If you have multiple interests, please contact us for a reduced quote.
Weekly Courier online
35 years of photo inserts for the "Weekly Courier" (WC) are now online.
Some pages contain birth death and marriage notices on opposite pages.
'This link will take you to the inserts for 1901. You can then use the 'Select Year' box which is located above 'current view' on the image viewer, to view images from the other 34 years.'

Tasmanian Family Link
The Colonial Tasmanian Family Links database is designed to provide an initial online genealogical research resource. It links individuals with other members of their families living in Tasmania in the 19th Century. The information about individuals is based primarily on records of births, deaths, and marriages and similar events, held in the Archives Office and the linkages have been developed by family historians associated with the former National Heritage Foundation in the late 1990s. The database contains approximately five hundred thousand entries.
Copies of more detailed documentation of many of the events listed in the database are available as are a wide range of records providing genealogical information.

Southern Cemeteries Trust
This site maintains a most valuable feature, the SEARCH page and other pages that allow a tour around our cemeteries. Extra photos and features have been added to give the visitor more information about the Trust's cemeteries. In July 2008, Millingtons took control of the Southern Regional Cemetery Trust, which in 2004 took over the running of a small, formerly private cemetery on Hobart’s Eastern Shore. This cemetery dates back to the 1870’s, and contains approximately 100 burials. This information has also been added to our database so that your chances for finding that elusive grave have been improved.
We are also in the process of adding photos of all the headstones in the three cemeteries to our database and eventually this will be online so that you will be able to see all the information that is important. This is a big job, so please bear with us. This job is being done in conjunction with Grave sites of Tasmania.
Take a tour, have a look at our panoramas, our Bushland burials, our headstone for sale, and all we have to offer. With over 30,000 hits since its inception, it has proved an invaluable aid for family history.
Tasmanian Family History Service
